BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – Baring unforeseen circumstances, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State is set to effect new changes in his administrative structure to assist him inject new policies as he completes his second year in office this week.

The governor had last week embarked on a “meet the people’s tour” of the 13 Local Government Areas to interact and hear directly from the people with regards to their challenges to enable him make adjustments where necessary.

It was gathered that Governor Sule made some salient observations during the tour which is likely to spur him into making some changes that will reflect his new administration policy direction.

Forefront News also gathered that as part of the changes, the governor is expected to study the evaluation report of political appointees, their contributions to their various constituencies and new ideas to be injected into the administration.

Already, there are feelers that Governor Sule is not happy with some government functionaries who find it difficult to sensitize the people and explain government intentions and policies to them.

Sources close to the seat of power in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital indicate that as part of the likely changes, the governor is determined to ensure that the expected changes will be based on merit and equal representation among the people of the state.

Speaking at the palace of Chun Mada, Samson Gamu Yare, the traditional ruler of Akwanga Local Government Area, Governor Sule said that the tour is to enable him meet the people, thank them for their support and also hear from them where his administration needed adjustment and changes.

Sule further explained that the town hall meetings at the Local Government headquarters is to hear from the people, their feelings about his government and see where he can make adjustment and for the people to look at his administration in the face and say their minds.

There are already serious complaints on the efficiency of some government appointees who hardly bring fresh ideas to the government to enhance government policies or even visit their respective constituencies to engage the people on certain government policies and directives.

Sources said that the governor is particularly not happy with situations where political appointees from the same area will not meet and project government policies together but rather choose to act individually.

Already, there are complaints that most of the appointees meet to discuss government only when they want some items to be shared or distributed.

In Karu Local Government Area, Governor Sule asked the chairman, Samuel Akala to explain to the stakeholders during a town hall meeting on why salaries of staff of the Council were not paid.

Further checks indicate that the governor is worried that two years after assuming office, he is yet to get a team that is in sync and tandem with the policy of the government.
