Senate Rejects Onochie’s Nomination As INEC Commissioner
- Suspends action on Prof Adam’s nomination
The Senate has rejected the nomination of Ms Lauretta Onochie as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Also, the upper Legislative chamber stepped down the nomination of Professor Sani Mohammad Adam (North Central) to allow for further legislative action on the matter.
This followed Tuesday’s consideration of the Senate Committee on INEC’s report, presented by its Chairman, Senator Kabiru Gaya.
Senator Gaya said the Committee rejected the nomination of Onochie because there is already a National Commissioner of INEC, Mrs May Agbamuche that represents Delta State in the Commission.
