- As Zimbabwe Face India in third place classification
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – Still haunted by missing out of this year’s World Cup starting in a few days time, Nigeria’s Super Eagles stand on the brink of another historic triumph when they face Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz in today’s 2026 Unity Cup final.
With an undisputed tournament dominance on the line, the Coach Eric Chelle new look side will seek to further establish their superiority in the invitational tournament as the final takes place at The Valley in Charlton, London.
Slated to kickoff at 7:30pm West African time, the Super Eagles head into today’s final full of confidence following their dominant display against Zimbabwe.
However, they will still need to be wary of Jamaica attackers Kaheim Dixon and Courtney Clarke, who both scored in their semi-final victory over India.
Nigeria booked their place in the final after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the semi-final, with Millwall debutant Femi Azeez scoring both goals to seal the win for the three-time African champions.
Jamaica also secured a 2-0 win in their semi-final clash against India, who are featuring in the Unity Cup for the first time, setting up another final meeting with the Super Eagles for the second consecutive edition.
The last time this tournament held at The Valley stadium was in 2004 when the Super Eagles emerged champions after defeating both the Republic of Ireland and Jamaica to lift the trophy.
In that encounter against Jamaica, John Utaka and Bartholomew Ogbeche scored in a 2-0 victory for Nigeria.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to continue their impressive record in the competition and remain unbeaten in their last three Unity Cup meetings with the Reggae Boyz.
However, Jamaica proved to be a much tougher opponent in their most recent encounter, with the match ending 2-2 before Nigeria eventually triumphed on penalties.
Meanwhile, fans in Nigeria can watch the match live on SuperSport via GOtv and DStv. The game will also be available on AfroTV and NFF TV
