BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI- A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Hon Shuaibu Mustapha has said that the Supreme Court judgment that confirmed Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP as the duly elected Governor of Kano State was meted out in the interest of the relevant laws of the land.

Mustapha therefore expressed dismay that some mischief makers within the Kano state APC are pointing accusing fingers at the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin for being one of the arrowheads behind the failure of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Yusuf Gawuna at the Supreme Court.

According to him, “Those who have been into partisan politics throughout their lives know that politics in most cases is a game of false accusations, finger pointing, and mudslinging just to smear the hard-earned names of some public-spirited people they consider as their real or perceived enemies.

“All these diabolical attitudes were mentioned times unnumbered in the Koran and Bible. It is also the business of the bad eggs amongst us to fabricate and disseminate false, baseless, and unfounded stories just to paint the great egret black.

“No bona fidé card-carrying member of the APC in Kano State is ignorant of the fact that without Senator Barau’s ever-growing popularity in the state, the APC would not have won any seat in the state considering the attitudes of some of its leaders towards the electorates even on the eve of the 2023 general elections.

“But, despite the situation before the 2023 General elections, Sen. Barau Jibrin owing to his unrivaled commitment to his people did not only win his Kano-North senatorial seat but also saved the necks of almost all those who contested for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly in his senatorial zone, with the exception of Ganduje’s biological son, who was pipped to the post by another political heavyweight, Hon. Tijjani Jobe of the NNPP.”

“In fact, Barau Jibrin’s popularity cuts across all the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State, hence, there was no Local Government you go and you won’t find thousands of people working assiduously for Senator Barau with or without his consent because his generosity is palpably spotted in every nook and cranny of the state,” he asserted.

Mustapha therefore said that as a law-abiding Nigerian, Senator Barau Jibrin has no power to dictate to the Justices of the Supreme Court what they should or should not do.
