TCN Announces Power Supply Rationing In FCT
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says beginning from Monday, January 6 to Monday, January 20, 2025, the power supply to parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will be done on a rotational basis.
According to the Power Company, the rationing is due to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA)’s ongoing road dualisation project along the Apo axis of the nation’s capital.
TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, said the project requires the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line.
She explained that the development will result in a planned power outage from 9 am to 4 pm daily, affecting areas such as Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, and Apo Mechanic.
Other areas to be affected include parts of Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe Chika, and Alaita axis.
While apologizing for the inconvenience, the TCN assures customers that the power supply will be restored as soon as the tower relocation and cable stringing are completed.
”This relocation work will necessitate a planned power outage from 6th to 20th Jan from 9 am to 4 pm daily, which is the estimated duration for the dismantling and construction of the towers.
“It will also allow for the restringing of the power cables that will enable the resumption of bulk power supply to the Apo Transmission Substation from Gwagwalada Substation”, the TCN statement said, noting that; “The relocation of the transmission towers is a necessity for the road completion project”.
