Terrorism: Court Delists Sowore, Others As Kanu’s Trial Resumes

A Federal High Court handling the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People’s of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has screened and pruned the number of persons who applied to observe the trial which resumes today, Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

Over 30 persons, including the convener of “Take it Back Movement”, Omoyele Sowore had applied to be in court as observers.

It was however, gathered that the court presided over by Justice James Omotosho, after due diligence and screening, prone down the list and approved 20 persons to be allowed into the court as observers.

It was gathered that the approved list, contained the names of close family members of Kanu, while court directed observers to be seated before 9:00am.

However, conspicuously missing on the list of the observers cleared for the court’s hearing was Omoyele Sowore.

Meanwhile, four Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), had indicated interest to join the Defence team being led by Chief Kanu Agabi and Uchenna Njoku, both SANs.

The four Senior advocates are Prof. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Emeka Etiaba, Dr. Joseph Akubo and Audu Nunghe.

At the last court outing, Justice Omotosho had approved an accelerated hearing on the seven-count terrorism charge against Kanu.
