Theatre Commander Tasks Troops on Training, Professionalism
The Theatre Commander (TC) Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Christopher Musa, says training and retraining of troops in the theatre is fundamental to the overall performance and professionalism in the military.
Gen Musa said training is considered as a matter of necessity to fine-tune the attitude and conduct of troops in reacting to unsuspected enemy approach, antics and mode of operation in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
The Theatre Commander spoke at the graduation ceremony of the Theatre Headquarters’ in-house Train-The-Trainer course for students/participants of batch 3 Course at Maimalari Cantonment on Friday, August 6, 2021.
He lauded instructors for their untiring efforts, contributions and commitment towards the training, noting that the programme has further enhanced the overall performance composure, and general conduct of troops as well as changed the narratives and mode of operations across the entire Theatre.
The Army General also said the previous classes of the Train-the-Trainers class has been upgraded though more improvement is still needed which will be captured in subsequent courses.
According to him, the multiplier effects of the training is evident in the recent massive surrendering of Boko Haram Terrorists and their Islamic State of West Africa Province Counterparts through the combined efforts of troops of OPHK, intensive air interdiction and artillery bombardment.
A statement by Colonel ADO ISA, Deputy Director Public Relations, 7 Division Nigerian Army/Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, further quoted the Theatre Commander as saying; “Training is the bedrock of every army, and the idea is for you to go back and impart the knowledge to officers and soldiers in your various locations to enhance optimal performance”.
He therefore directed that all officers and soldiers in the theatre must undergo the training to be empowered in their line of duty.
In his remarks and appreciation of the Military high command, the Theatre Training Officer (TTO), Brigadier General Ebenezer Oduyebo, said the course is designed to cover some of the key areas where the troops need capacity building and more improvement in terms of competence and effective service delivery.
The graduation ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Major General Ibrahim Jallo; Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division/ Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Eyitayo; Component Commanders and Principal Staff Officers from HQ OPHK, Units/ Formation Commanders among others.
