Billionaire businessman and socialite, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not seems trust him because of his Igbo background and his 2023 support for Mr Peter Obi, who contested the presidency on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

Okechukwu, who stated this during a chat with a content creator known as Peller on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, while reflecting on his recent political outing during which he was seriously trounced in the party primary for the House of Representatives ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pointedly said that President Tinubu does not trust him because of his Igbo background.

Okechukwu said; “Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like, ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before”.

Cubana Chief Priest recently obtained the APC House of Representatives Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat in Imo State.

He said that even though he worked for Peter Obi in 2023 elections, he later resolved to align with President Tinubu and the APC owing to his understanding that Peter Obi stands little chance of defeating Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Cubana Chief Priest is presently the Imo State Coordinator of a political support group drumming support for President Tinubu ahead of 2027 on the aegis of ‘City Boys Movement’.

Okechukwu failed bid for the APC House of Representatives ticket triggered mixed reactions on social media, with several users mocking his defeat and suggesting that he underestimated the realities of Nigerian politics.

However, amid the backlash, the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu took to his Instagram and encouraged Cubana Chief Priest,

Seyi Tinubu urged Cubana Chief Priest not to be discouraged by the outcome of the party primary, saying that political setbacks could eventually pave the way for future success.
