BY EDMOND ODOK – After his two-day historic visit to the United Kingdom (UK), President Bola Tinubu returned to the country early on Friday where he is expected to join other Muslim faithful later in the day to mark the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr in Lagos.
President Tinubu and his wife, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 1.15 am where he was received at the tarmac by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, wife of the governor, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains.

In a video footage shared on X, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, captured the moment the presidential aircraft touched down, with senior government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on hand to receive the presidential couple.
Dare’s message said: “A President arrives home. Excitement as President Tinubu returns to Nigeria after a resoundingly successful state visit to the UK”. The visit, which held between March 18 and 19, 2026, is still being talked about as it marked the first formal state visit by a Nigerian leader to the United Kingdom in 37 years. The previous one having occurred in 1989.
According to the President’s Eid-el-Fitr itinerary in Lagos, he will be praying at the Eid prayer ground of the Dodan Barracks, on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu has enjoined Nigerian Muslims to rededicate themselves to the noble teachings of the holy month, which emphasises piety, empathy, and unity among humanity.
The President said in his Sallah message: “We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period.”
