Former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has declared that at the rate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going, his administration would soon impose more hardship on Nigerians in the form of excessive and excruciating taxes.
Adebayo, who stated this in a post on his verified X handle, noted that the Tinubu-led administration’s unending tax policies have further reduced most Nigerian below the acceptable poverty line, stressing that it is obvious that the government knows nothing outside taxation.
He lamented the government seems more determined to squeeze every possible source of revenue from struggling citizens that are barely eking a living.
Adebayo sarcastically said; “Give President Tinubu more time, and he will eventually tax the air we breathe. All Tinubu knows and care about is the imposition taxers on the people, reduce their purchasing power and slow down the economy”.
The SDP Chieftain specifically criticized the government’s economic decisions, including the fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira, which he noted have worsened inflation and deepened hardship for millions of Nigerians.
Adebayo’s remarks come against the backdrop of widespread complaints about the high cost of living, unstable exchange rates, and rising electricity tariffs without commensurate supply across the country.
