Tinubu’s Loyalists Move To Sack Adamu As APC National Chair Ahead Of Campaigns
Ahead of the kickoff date for the flag-off of campaigns, the camp of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu are up in arms against the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
The Tinubu’s Loyalists are desirous of showing Adamu the way out of office before the commencement of campaigns on September 28, 2022 based on the schedule time table approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
One of the grouses of the Tinubu’s camp fear of having what happened in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in 2015 during which time a sitting National Chairman of Northern origin sacrificed former President Goodluck Jonathan for the APC.
It was also gathered that the Tinubu’s loyalists are concerned that the former governor of Nasarawa State is known to be an irredentist Northerner who never hid his intention to have power retained in his region ahead of the APC presidential primaries thus, not comfortable with Senator Adamu leading the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
Checks by Forefront News indicated one of the leading opponents to senator Adamu remaining in office as National Chairman, who is also a former Senator, has vowed that nothing would stop them from throwing Adamu out of office ahead of the campaigns.
The Senator who does not want his name in print said that it was a known fact that Adamu never wanted Tinubu to emerge as the APC presidential flag bearer thus, there is nothing to show that anything has change in that direction.
He said that was why Tinubu earlier penciled one of his ardent supporters, Senator Tanko Al-Makura for the position of national chairman before President Muhammadu Buhari chose Adamu and asked governors to adopt him.
According to the senator; “It is also on record that Adamu vowed to punish Tinubu after his Abeokuta’s outburst in spite of the apology tendered by Asiwaju, the APC National Chairman insisted that the apology was not enough and assured that he would deal with Tinubu. How do you leave such a person in a position that would enable him to carry out his threat?
Tinubu had while on a visit to APC delegates in Ogun State, said that he installed President Buhari after failing three times to win the presidency, adding that it was his turn to be president.
It was also gathered that many of the pro-Tinubu’s loyalists including some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) are of the view that Adamu is not and cannot be the right person to lead the campaign.
