After weeks of consultations, lobbying and contestations, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani on Tuesday finally let the cat out of the bag as he announced the choice of Mr. Jerry Adams as his gubernatorial running mate for the 2027 election.

Adams, who is the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (FCTI), the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM) and Certified National Accountant (CNA), and also an accomplished public servant, tax administrator and institution builder.

Senator Sani, who unveiled Adams in a statement on Tuesday, stated that the choice followed wide consultations, reflection and prayers, thus reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness and equity in Kaduna State.

Senator Sani noted that Adams’ leadership at KADIRS has transformed the agency into one of Nigeria’s respected revenue institutions through innovation, transparency and professionalism.
The Governor also said improved fiscal capacity of the state had enabled his administration to invest more in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other critical sectors.

Sani explained that the nomination was not merely about selecting a deputy governorship candidate, but a reaffirmation of the values that had guided his administration since its inauguration on May 29, 2023.

The Governor particularly stressed that Kaduna’s diversity of faiths, ethnicities and cultures remained its greatest strength, adding that the state’s history had demonstrated the cost of division, mistrust and exclusion.

Sani particularly said that his administration had, over the past three years, worked to heal old wounds and restore confidence in government by ensuring that the dividends of democracy reached communities across the 23 local government areas.
The Governor listed investments in roads, schools, hospitals, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection as part of efforts to ensure that no community was left behind.

Sani further said; “Collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups has also helped strengthen the foundations of peace through dialogue, mutual respect and shared development.
“Improved security has enabled farmers to return to their lands, businesses to expand and investments to grow. That peace can only be sustained through fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity.

“Adams’ emergence reflects my administration’s determination to ensure that merit, competence and character remain the key qualifications for leadership. Adams is a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength.

“Adams has demonstrated commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance, and shared the conviction that Kaduna’s diversity should unite rather than divide its people,” he stated.

The Governor therefore, urged the people of the State to view the 2027 election beyond religious, ethnic and geographical considerations, stressing that the ultimate goal should be to build a state where every child can dream without fear, communities can flourish, all faiths are respected and citizens have an equal stake in the future.
Sani said that the task of building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna was not yet complete, adding that his administration had laid a solid foundation for a more united, secured, just and prosperous state.
