BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Inspector General of Police on Tuesday said that the personnel of Force were deployed to the National Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC), located at Blantyre Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja for maintenance of law and order.

The IGP specifically said that the deployment is a proactive move by the Force to maintain peace and ensure there is no breakdown of law and order at the Secretariat.

These were contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba in which he explained that members of the APC as well as Staff of the Secretariat are therefore at liberty to conduct their legitimate businesses, in and around the Secretariat as always.

However, as early as 7:00am on Tuesday, a detachment of stern looking policemen sealed off the National Secretariat of the ruling APC.

It was gathered that the directive to sealed off the ruling Party’s national Secretariat was based on orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu.

Checks by Forefront News had indicated that the IGP had scheduled to hold a meeting with members of the National Working Committee of the party believed to be in factions with different people claiming to be in charge of the affairs of the party.

The IGP’s meeting with members of the different factions of the NWC of the Party is expected to review and discuss the development that led to the leadership crisis within the party and the way forward.

The IGP’s directive, it was gathered, was handed down through the Commissioner of Police in-charge of the FCT, who equally directed the Chief Security Officer of the ruling APC to inform members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to stay away from the Party’s secretariat.
