Worrisome: Gunmen In 7 SUVs Attacked My Abuja House – Sen Jibrin Cries Out
Immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has raised alarm over the invasion and attack on his Abuja residence by gunmen that successfully raided his rented house situated at Brains & Hermas Estate, Apo 3, FCT Abuja.
Senator Jibrin said that the gunmen that drove to his Abuja house in seven Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and with sophisticated weapons, said they were in his house to search for N5 billion and ammunition.
The ugly development took place barely a week after a reported but, unsuccessful attack by members of Boko Haram on the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, in Yola, Adamawa State.
Elder statesman Jibrin, who was a senator in the second Republic, told journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 that the gunmen after gaining entrance into his house, ordered his boy, Auwalu to take them to his bedroom where they ransacked and carted away some documents, stressing that the incident was the second time that gunmen were raiding his residence.
Jibrin further said that the gunmen tied Auwalu, and told him that they were a mission to take away hidden N5billion and some ammunition, adding however they did not find anything whatsoever.
In the words of Sen. Jibrin; “Even though I was not at home when they came in the afternoon, they forced my houseboy, Auwalu to the bedroom but alas, found nothing.
“They took my houseboy, Auwalu away and later dropped him somewhere after informing him that they carried out the exercise because they were looking for such a big amount as N5billion and some ammunition kept by me but found nothing at all. The bandits came with about seven Sport Utility Vehicles, eight gunmen with sophisticated ammunition.
“I have since reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police who directed the Commissioner of Police, FCT, to handle the matter. The CP is still in investigation.
“I want to announce that I have never kept such an amount of money or any ammunition in my house.
“It is important also for the whole world to note that I do not own any personal house in Abuja, FCT and also never have any personal house in my Local Government Council headquarters in Nasarawa Local Government Area or any house in my State capital, Lafia.
“The current house attached in the Brains and Hermas Estate, is a fully rented house that will expire in three months’ time.
“I want to assure all that I still remain a man of honour and integrity who never worked with the Federal Government. I will always remain a company executive in the Nigerian 175 Textiles and now a National Life Patron of the industry and also a strategic member of the National Council of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
“It is also important to state that I am a true Nigerian politician who served up to the position of the chairman, PDP Board of Trustees until recently when I voluntarily resigned from that prestigious position,” Senator Jibrin said.
