  • Shocker as Tinubu’s Campaign DG dumps ruling party

The rofo-rofo fight for the sole presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is currying favour by the day with the President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, become the latest aspirants to join the race.

The development has finally put paid to months and weeks of rumours that the AfDB Chief was under severe pressure from some APC chieftains to join the contest.

Competent sources hinted that the argument for drafting Adesina into the race is based on the thinking that his candidacy is attractive and has the potential of easily securing presidential approval for 2023.

As at the time of filling this reports, it could not be officially confirmed if the AfDB President has already purchased his N100 million Expression of Interest and Nomination Form

However, in a shocking a development that has caused anxiety with tongues already wagging about the possibility of high wired political gymnastics, the hitherto assured Director General of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organization, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin has call it quit from APC.

In dumping the ruling party, the former Member of the House of Representatives was mute on his reasons for jettisoning the ruling APC.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, Jibrin said he has done his best for the APC and that it was time to move on.

He however stated that within the next 24 hours, an announcement would be made concerning his new political linings and new party in the next 24 hours.

He tweeted, “I have done my best for APC. It’s time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours Insha Allah. I will make a formal statement in due course” – Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin.

The moves by the former lawmaker have left a sour taste in the mouth of many supporters of the Tinubu Presidential aspiration given he may have already gotten great insight into the campaign plans of the APC National Leader before throwing in the towel.

Before now, Jubril had been all the Southern presidency come 2023 and openly confirmed his position in an interview with Arise TV saying; “I don’t think APC will try to toy around with that matter. I believe confidently that the Presidency is going to the Southern part and, when it goes there, Asiwaju stands out clearly in terms of experience, pedigree and competence, and most importantly, the ability to win the election. His gap is quite huge more than anybody else”.
