2023 Polls: Tinubu Reacts To Peter Obi’s Lagos Victory
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially announced the presidential election results in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has urged all residents of the State to remain calm and shun acts capable of causing a breakdown of law and order.
He cautioned that the election outcome in which Labour Party (LP) won the presidential poll in Lagos State should not be a source of provocation, noting that the beauty of democracy is people having the right to vote for candidates of their choice.
According to the APC candidate, as a democrat he is bound to accept the outcome of any election whether favourable or not.
Speaking in a statement released Monday by the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Tinubu expressed serious concern over reports of violence in parts of the state especially reported attacks on some traders of Igbo origin.
The statement signed by the PCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, quoted the former Lagos State Governor as condemning all forms of violence against people of any ethnic group in Lagos.
He further said; “The fact that the APC narrowly lost Lagos State to another party should not be the reason for violence. As a democrat, you win some, you lose some.
“We must allow the process to continue unhindered across the country while we maintain peace and decorum”.
