The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assembled a team of 97 lawyers to challenge what it described as the “fake lawsuit” instituted through the backdoor by the All Progressives Congress (APC), against its interim leadership, including Senator David Mark, former Senate President and former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The assembled legal team led by Mohammed Sheriff, is expected to addressed and quash all the issues raised in the suit filed by applicants.
Interim National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, who stated these on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, pointedly accused the APC of being behind the suit but, using the names of some individuals who are not known members of the ADC.
Mark pointedly said that the APC fabricated names in its lawsuit against the party’s interim leadership, adding that investigations has shown that the supposed plaintiffs in the suit are not registered members of the party in either Kogi or Nasarawa State.

In the words of Mark; “It smacks of desperation that a party entrusted with leading 200 million Nigerians would engage in such dishonesty”.
Mark, who stated these when he received in audience stakeholders of the ADC from Kogi State, said that unlike other political parties, every member of the ADC is an equal stakeholder and assured that under his leadership, the Coalition ADC would operate with transparency and would not in any way favour any presidential aspirant.
In the words of Mark; “I don’t own this party more than any other member. All Nigerians must come together and take ownership of the ADC.
“Our Party members must set aside their differences and focus on building a united political force. Nigeria’s democracy could fail if citizens remained passive,” he said.
Mark said that the jittery APC should stop the Machiavellian politics of deceit and division and focus more on fixing its own policy failures as against targeting individuals.
He further said; “If the APC admitted that insecurity was bad and promised to improve it, but instead made it worse, should Nigerians continue to support them? The answer is no”.
Mark therefore called for national unity and the need for Nigerians to support the ADC’s vision of a reformed and people-centred democracy, saying; “let us work together to rebuild this nation for future generations”.
Also speaking, Mr Mohammed Sheriff, who is leading the ADC’s national legal support team, confirmed that 97 lawyers have already volunteered to take up the case, saying; “We are fully prepared to defend the ADC and its leaders against this politically motivated attack”.
