Abductors Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Passengers Free Oldest Victim, Daughter, Two Others
The Media Consultant to Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, who is one of the chief negotiators with terrorists for the release of the abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna bound train on March 9, 2022, Mr. Tukur Mamu has confirmed that the abductors on Friday, August 19, 2022 released another four of their victims.
Mamu, who is also the publisher of Kaduna based Desert Herald newspaper, said the four released victims left his office on Friday evening, noting that the freed abductees collectively came to thank him for the past efforts made in mediating on their behalf and convincing the abductors to drop the threats of executing them.
He also said released victims urged him to plead with all stakeholders, especially the Federal Government, to intensify efforts at freeing the remaining 23 victims still in captivity because the condition of the forest is pathetic.
Mamu listed those released on Friday to include the oldest victim, a grandmother, Mama Halimatu Atta, who is 90 years old and her daughter, who is 53 year old married woman, Mrs. Adama Atta Aliyu.
He said the woman was bravely shown in the last video protesting and challenging her captors and lamenting failure to secure their release.
Mamu also said the victim that first suggested his name to the abductors, as one of those to be contacted to mediate between them and the Federal Government, Mohammed Sani Abdulmaji (M.S Ustaz), an indigene of Sokoto state, Alhaji Modin Modi Bodinga was also released on Friday by the terrorists.
He did not however state if ransom was paid before their release even as reports indicated that the oldest woman had her ransom paid earlier but she refused to leave the forest, insisting she cannot accept her freedom without her daughter.
Other victims that were released before now, it was gathered were only set free upon payment of N100million per victim.
