BY COBHAM NSA, ABUJA – The popular Treasury House that serves as the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is currently on fire.

Eyewitness’ accounts indicated that the fire may have started from either the third or fourth floor, razing upwards, including the Accountant General’s office and some of the most important offices within the building.

But the cause of the fire was not immediately known with most workers currently at home observing the lockdown directives of the Federal Government.

On the spot, a combined team of men of the Federal and FCT Fire Services, as well as other security operatives, were seen battling to contain the fire and its attendant damage on the official documents and the complex.

However, the fire fighters appeared overwhelmed and helpless in the face of the raging inferno with complaints of not having necessary equipment required to reach the floors most affected within the building

The OAGF is currently an integral part of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) set up by the Federal Government to fight the war against COVUD-19 pandemic.

Located on Ladoke Akintola Boulvard Street, the Treasury House is opposite the National Security Printing and Minting Press (NSPMP) and adjacent to the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja

The OAGF, established under Civil Services re-organization Decree No. 43 of 1988, is headed by Accountant General of the Federation, as the Chief Accounting Officer. He is responsible for the overall management of all receipts and payments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN).
