Adeyeye Speaks For Nigerian Senate

Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday named the Senator representing Ekiti South, Adedayo Adeyeye, as chairman of the Senate ad-hoc committee on Media and Public Affairs.
According to Senator Lawan, the new committee will hold fort and inter face with the public until a standing committee is officially constituted to take over that responsibility.
He listed other members of the Committee as Senators Aishatu Dahiru, Ifeanyi Ubah, Betty Okagua-Apiafi, Uba Sani and Abba Moro
Before defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2019 general elections, Senator Adeyeye was a one time National Publicity Secretary of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee.
Expectations are running high that chairmen and members of Standing committees in the upper legislative chamber would soon be announced with the Selection Committee already working ahead of schedule.
Also, the Senate President had on Tuesday read letters from the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) and the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), announcing names of Principal Officers for the 9th Senate.
On the side of APC, Senator Lawan listed Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (APC), Kebbi North as the Majority Leader, with Senator Robert Borrofice (APC), representing Ondo North as the Deputy Leader.
The Senate Chief Whip is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC), Abia North while Senator Sabi Aliyu Abdullahi (APC), Niger North will serve as the Deputy Majority Whip.
He also informed the Senators that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, PDP, representing Abia South as Minority Leader; Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP), Taraba South as Deputy Minority Leader; Senator Philip Aduda (PDP), FCT and Senator Sahabi Yau (PDP), Zamfara North as Deputy Minority Whip.
Similarly, the Senate President also announced an Ad-hoc Committee on Legislative Agenda that has the responsibility of floating a robust Legislative Agenda for the Senate within the next two weeks.
The Committee is chaired by Senator Adamu Aliero (APC), representing Kebbi Central.
Listed as members are Senators Barau Jibrin (APC) – Kano North; Abdulfatai Buhari (APC) – Oyo North; Olubunmi Adetumbi (APC) – Ekiti North; Chimaroke Nnamani (PDP) – Enugu East; Uche Ekwunife (PDP) – Anambra Central; Istifanus Gyang (PDP) – Plateau North; and Haliru Jika (APC) – Bauchi Central.
Others include Albert Bassey Akpan (PDP) – Akwa Ibom North East; Sadiq Suleiman Umar (APC) – Kwara North; Eremienyo Wangagra Degi (PDP) – Bayelsa East; and Ifeanyi Ubah (YPP) – Anambra South.
