Following their embarrassing 0-2 loss to Madagascar and eventual second place finish in Group B, the Super Eagles now have a huge task in their hands qualifying for the last 8 stage given the Cameroonians’ solid defensive display in the continent’s biggest football showpiece so far.
The Indomitable Lions booked their place in the knockout phase after being held to a goalless draw by Benin Republic at Ismailia Stadium, Ismailia on Tuesday.
The Clarence Seedorf’s men have not been inspiring in the competition and easily conceded Group F’s top spot to Black Stars of Ghana because of superior goals difference by the Ghanians.
The Cameroonians must now beat Gernot Rohr’s side for a place in the quarter-finals if they hope to successfully defend their trophy in Egypt.
Both countries are scheduled to file-out on Saturday, July 6 at Alexandria Stadium for the encounter already being tagged as the clash of the Titans by soccer pundits.
Recalled that the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Indomitable Lions 2-1 in their last outing in the competition with Jay-Jay Okocha and John Utaka finding the target at the 2004 edition staged in Tunisia.

In their devastating form, the Nigerians taught the Indomitable Lions a soccer lesson winning 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International in Uyo while the return fixture in Yaounde ended in a one-all draw.
