Akpabio Moves Against Projects’ Duplication, Abandonment In Niger Delta
BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, says no effort will be spared in delivering on the ‘Strategic Implementation Work Plan (SIWP)’ aimed at addressing project duplicity and abandonment in the Niger Delta region.
Senator Akpabio, who was represented by the Minister of State, Omotayo Alasoadura, made the pledge at a roundtable meeting with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and other stakeholders in Abuja.
A statement in Abuja on Sunday by the Head of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Mrs Patricia Deworitshe, quoted the former Akwa Ibom State governor as saying that; “SIWP portal was basically to provide coordinated framework for the implementation of developmental interventions, provide joint accountability framework for monitoring and evaluation of projects.”
According to the statement, SIWP is also meant to “deliver strategic response based on shared vision for development by stakeholders in the Niger Delta region, as facilitated by the Office of the Vice President in 2016.”
