Akwa Ibom Police Clamp Down On Vehicles With Defaced Plate Numbers, Tinted Glasses

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Monday declared that the Law prohibiting the use of vehicles without tinted permit remains valid and enforced.

It also said that it is an offence to drive a vehicle with covered or defaced plate/registration number.

The Command in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana said it has commenced massive enforcement of the Laws prohibiting the use of vehicles with concealed/covered plate numbers and vehicles without tinted permits.

It warned that violators will be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.  

In a related development, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the ban on the use of Motorcycles at Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun Local Government Areas from 6:00pm to 7:00 am with effect from Monday, November 19, 2017 till further notice.

The Akwa Ibom police explained that the measure became necessary to tackle the rising tide of violent crimes, especially murder and kidnapping in the affected Local Government Areas mainly perpetrated with motorcycles.

The Command warned that violators of the order will be dealt with in accordance with the law, adding that the task of making Akwa Ibom State safe and secured is a collective responsibility.

The Akwa Ibom Police further said; “Together we can win the battle against Crime. Continue to support the Police to serve you better.”
