A major political turmoil and setback has hit the Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following what some concerned members said it is as a result of lack of internal democracy.
Some of the aggrieved chieftains of the Party particularly said that the names that were listed as having won nominations during the last party congress were completely different from the ones that emanated for the primaries.
They noted that the changed names were formed the basis and responsible for the present court case between Senator Uba Sani and Sha’aban.
The development has led to the immediate resignation of 15 chieftains of the party saying their departure from the APC which they participated in forming and nurturing followed unresolved matters in the party that is now controlled as a personal entity.
One of the chieftains that dumped the APC in Kaduna, revealed that about 500 other members are leaving the party with them owing to unresolved matters in spite of efforts made by them.
The APC chieftains that announced their departure on Thursday include; Audu Bode, Shuabu Ahmed, Habila Latu, Boniface Ubandoma, Yakubu Simon, Jashua Peter, Camio Bitrus, Patrick Paul (Pato), Samuel Wyah, Zaka Makoshi, Jonathan Fedelix, Barnabas Samuel (Barry), Shua’ibu Yusuf, Alexander Danladi (Lulu) and Samuel Ibrahim.
Similarly, the Legal Adviser of the APC in Jema’a Local Government Areaof the state, Ibrahim Samuel, in a letter addressed to his Ward Chairman, said that his decision to dump the party was based on the internal crises of the party, disrespect to party elders and lack of internal democracy.
A statement signed by Barnabas Samuel and Hon. Ibrahim Samuel stated that even though the State House of Assembly party primary has ended but not without some avoidable challenges.
According to the Party chieftains; “It is only logical and ideal that after every contest, all the aspirants that lost in the contest are brought together for genuine reconciliation with the flag bearer.
“Last month, instead of calling for reconciliation, the party stakeholders of our local government met at Kaduna under the guise of reconciliation, but the meeting turned out to be one of issuing warnings and threats to those that lost in the last primaries. “The Party leadership rather warned that should any of them be caught in any anti-party activity in the forthcoming election, they would be dealt with,” they alleged.
