Argentina’s World Cup celebrations have been marred by the death of a 24-year-old fan after he fell through a roof ‘jumping up and down’ celebrating their 4-2 penalty shootout win over France in the final match decided on Sunday.

Lionel Messi and the rest of Argentina’s players delivered the nation’s first World Cup triumph since 1986 and it caused millions in Argentina to throw parties and go on wild celebrations across cities in the South American nation.

However, after Tuesday’s bus parade was cut short due to safety concerns of fans jumping onto the top of the bus with the players, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health detailed how another fan died in hospital on Monday due to a head injury picked up while celebrating.

Argentina’s players, including Golden Glove winner Martinez, spent the day parading the World Cup trophy around the capital before it was abandoned over security issues, with fans filmed jumping onto the bus.

Also, there are fears over a five-year-old boy that is in a coma after sustaining a serious head injury following an incident in Plaza San Martin, where he was celebrating Argentina’s World Cup triumph with his parents.

La NaciĂłn (The Nation) Newspaper has further detailed how a piece of marble fell from a monument during the celebrations, striking the child, who is now in intensive care.

In another development, Argentina’s goalkeeping hero, Emiliano Martinez has continued to taunt Kylian Mbappe on his birthday by holding a baby doll with the French star’s face on it during Argentina’s World Cup victory parade around Buenos Aires.

To make matters worse, Martinez in fact held the Mbappe doll aloft while standing next to the 24-year-old’s PSG team-mate, Lionel Messi as the pair celebrated Argentina’s penalty shootout win against France.

But it’s not the first time that Martinez has taunted Mbappe – who somehow came out on the losing side of a World Cup final despite netting a hat-trick and putting the ball past the Argentine keeper on four separate occasions.

The Aston Villa keeper brutally mocked Mbappe during Argentina’s dressing room celebrations by calling for a minute’s silence for the French striker. It came even though the 30-year-old was seen as one of the first people to console Mbappe following France’s gut-wrenching defeat.

Martinez was hugely influential in Argentina’s triumph, making a crucial last-gasp save at the end of extra-time to deny Randal Kolo Muani before denying Kingsley Coman in the penalty shootout to inspire La Albiceleste to their first World Cup success since 1986.
