Bauchi Gov. Denounces Some Traditional Rulers, Security Agents Aiding Insecurity In The State
…Urges residents to be on red alert and report suspicious persons to security agents
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has decried and denounced the activities of some traditional rulers and security agents who he said are aiding and abetting the activities of bandits and other criminals thereby causing insecurity in parts of the state.
This was as Governor Mohammed vowed that the people of the state will not surrender to banditry and insurgency no matter the situation across the State.
He therefore urged residents of Mansur, Garin Sambo in Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area be on the red alert against bandits and other criminal elements operating in the area.
The Governor specifically appealed to heads of security agencies in the state to restrategize their operations in the area in order to tackle the problem headlong, adding that there is the need for rejigging of the personnel for effective operation.
Mohammed, who stated these when he visited the people of the villages on Saturday over incessant kidnappings and killings in the areas by suspected bandits and kidnappers, said that the informants serving the criminals are living within the communities.
He therefore urged the people to fish out bad elements amongst themselves to enable security agencies tackle the problem.
The Governor while sympathizing with the people, described his visit as a home coming and assured that measures will be taken to address the security challenges in the area.
The people of the area had earlier told the Governor that unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits and kidnappers had attacked Garin Sambo killing one person and injuring three persons.
Similarly, the residents of Mansur said that they have being battling with the activities of the insurgents who have continued to abduct them for ransom at will without much resistance, adding that the development has stopped them from farming activities.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Umar Sanda, who spoke on behalf of the Heads of security Agents in the state, called on the people to assist by exposing suspicious agents within the community.
Sanda commended the Governor for his support to security agencies in the state and called on the people to support the efforts of government in fighting insecurity.
Earlier, the Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Council, Hon Yusuf Garba said that the visit has further given the people more hope and courage that the government is concerned about their security and pledged the support and unalloyed loyalty of the people of the area to the government.
