- Orders arrest of perpetrators
- Condoles families that lost dear ones
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Following a communal clash that claimed their lives with many properties destroyed on Wednesday, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved a 24 hours curfew in Gudum Hausawa community, a suburbs of the Bauchi Metropolis.
The curfew followed a community clash that claimed three lives with several others injured while many houses and valuables were razed in the fighting.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who led heads of security agencies and top government officials in the state on an assessment visit to the affected community, disclosed that the security agencies have already arrested perpetrators of the communal clash.
He said his administration will not relent in providing lasting peace and security in the area as well as all the communities across the state.
The Governor also directed security agencies to conduct intensive surveillance to identify the root cause of the incident, even as he condemned the burning of people’s houses and other properties by unsuspected hoodlums.
According to him; “I have come here to commiserate with my brothers and sisters over the ugly incident that happened in this area and some of the perpetrators were arrested and we are in the process of prosecuting them.
“We are going to support those whose houses were burnt and the families of those who lost their lives with palliatives to cushion the effect of the incident.”
Bala, who urged the Police to establish an outpost in the area to enhance the security of lives and property, the Governor tasked the communities to live in peace and harmony irrespective of their religious or tribal differences as no society can progress and enjoy development without the existence of peace.

A statement by Muktar Gidado, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, said also speaking during the visit, the State Police Commissioner, Umar Sanda assured the security agencies will implement the government’s directive to restore peace in the Gudum Hausawa community.
Forefront recalls that two lives were lost last Friday, while several others were injured when hoodlums stormed the venue of a wedding send-forth to attack and kill two youths while inflicting injuries on many others.
This is as the Bauchi State Police Command announced a few days back that seven suspects have been arrested in connection with that unfortunate incident.
