The Chriatian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has raised alarm over planned and targeted killing of Christians in the region.

Chairman of CAN in the Northern States, Reverend Joseph Hayab, who raised the alarm on Saturday in Kaduna during a chat with journalists, said that intelligence reports indicated that Christians are being targeted within the North Central geopolitical zone particularly Kogi and Kwara states as part of the plot to keep the Northern region perpetually disunited.

Towards this end, Rev Hayab, who is also the Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, called on Christians within the mentioned states not to panic, but should remain vigilant and prayerful as well as report any suspicious movement to the relevant security agencies.

He particularly challenged security agencies to up their game and ensure that such plans by enemies of peace loving Nigerians are not carried out.

The Northern CAN Chairman said that in spite of the evil plans of the enemies of Nigeria, concerted efforts are being made towards ensuring that the people in the North and the entire country are firmly united to confront their common enemy.

Hayab stressed that terrorists are not to be sympathized with by any religion as their victims are both Christians and Muslims.

Hayab emphasised that if the military targets and neutralizes terrorists, no religion is being targeted, but the enemy of all is being silenced.

Commenting on the recent philanthropic gestures embarked upon by the CAN in the 19 Northern States and FCT, which witnessed thousands of families benefitted from relief items that included food stuff to the less privileged, Hayab said the gesture would be sustained and extended to other states.

According to him; “The relief items were not only limited to the North, but also the victims of terror attack in Owo, Ondo State, as part of the efforts of building bridges across Nigeria.
