COVID-19 Protocols: NDIC Closes For Business Till Monday, June 29

BY COBHAM NSA, ABUJA – Making good its compliance with the COVID-19 protocols, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has shut its Head Office Building in Abuja, the Nation’s capital to physical business operations until Monday, June 29. 2020.
In a move described as routine decontamination of its office complex, the Corporation said the exercise is in line with existing health protocols and guidelines for containing the deadly virus spread in Nigeria
The exercise flagged off on Monday, June 22, 2020 as part of measures put in place by NDIC management to safeguard the lives of staff and other occupants of the complex as well as visitors to the Corporation
A statement by NDIC’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs, S. A. Oluyemi said the exercise, scheduled to last till Wednesday, June 24, 2020 due to the building’s massive size, draws its strength from officially recommended guidelines for managing the pandemic.
However, he said “to enable the impact of the chemical used for the
decontamination wear out completely and ensure a conducive working environment for staff, the Office will be opened on Monday, 29th June, 2020.”
According to Oluyemi, “As a responsible institution, which places high premium on the health and general welfare of its workforce, members of staff have been directed to remain at home and work remotely for the duration of the exercise.”
The Corporation’s spokesperson, who disclosed that the last decontamination of the building took in April 2020, said the “Management of the Corporation regrets any inconvenience the temporary closure of the Head Office will pose to the general public.”
