COVID-19 Update: NCDC Records 64 New Cases, Overall Figure Now 1337

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – A drop in the number of index cases highlighted the latest update on Coronavirus (COVID-19) by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as at 11.20pm on Monday, April 27, 2020 with only 64 new cases and no deaths reported in the country.

With no new state joining the roll call of reported cases in the last 24 hours, NCDC said Nigeria’s tally now stands at 1337 confirmed cases.

Also, 255 cases have been successfully treated and discharged with 40 deaths recorded in 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NCDC’s figures indicated that of the Sixty-four (64) new cases reported from five (5) states, Lagos has Thirty-four (34); FCT – Fifteen (15); Borno – Eleven (11); with Taraba and Gombe recorded two (2) cases each

Meanwhile, one (1) case previously reported as a Lagos State case, is now reported as an FCT case with the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos now at 764 and 157 in FCT.

The highlights of the new nationwide measures are as follows;

“There will be an overnight curfew from 8pm to 6am. This means all movement will be prohibited during this period except essential services;#TakeResponsibility

“The gradual ease of lockdown measures in FCT, Lagos & Ogun States will begin effective Monday, 4th May, 2020

“We will strictly ensure the mandatory use of face masks or coverings in public in addition to maintaining physical distancing and personal hygiene.
