COVID-19 Update: NCDC Reports 148 New Cases, Tally Now 2,950

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – On a day that Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported five deaths from different Isolation Centres and designated hospitals, the total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in Nigeria jumped to 2,950 cases.

Announcing this on its official website late Tuesday night, the NCDC also said that 148 new cases of the virus were recorded across the country

The Agency further stated that with no new state reporting any confirmed case in the last 24 hours, 481 cases have been treated and discharged while the number of fatalities recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has now risen to 98 deaths.

Giving a breakdown of the 148 new cases, the NCDC said these were reported from 16 states as follows: Lagos – (43); Kano – (32); Katsina – (9); and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) – (10)

Others are: Zamfara – (14); Taraba and Borno – (7) each; Ogun – (6); Oyo – (5); Bauchi, Edo and Kaduna – (3) each; Adamawa and Gombe – (2) each while the trio of Plateau, Sokoto and Kebbi had one (1) case each.

NCDC’s records currently indicate that a total of 19,512 samples have been tested across the country with the results turning in 2,950 confirmed cases while the active figure has reduced to 2,371 cases.
