COVID-19 Update: Nigeria’s Tally Rises To 47,743 Cases With 453 New Infections
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – With the cheering news of reporting no death on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 453 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
Accordingly, the Centre said the development has now taken the total number of confirmed cases to 47,743 nationwide.
Dropping the latest statistics on its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov late on Wednesday night, the NCDC assured that it remains committed to keep Nigerians informed and following emerging evidence on #COVID19.
It also said highlights of events in the last 24 hours indicated that; “On the 12th of August 2020, 453 new confirmed cases and no deaths were recorded in Nigeria
“Till date, 47743 cases have been confirmed, 33943 cases have been discharged and 956 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
Furthermore, a breakdown of the 453 new cases reported from 16 states across the country by NCDC showed thus: Lagos – (113), FCT – (72), Plateau – (59), Enugu – (55), Kaduna – (38) and Ondo – (32).
Others also captured on the daily infection chart by NCDC are: Osun – (26), Ebonyi – (20), Ogun – (9), Delta – (8), Borno – (7), Akwa Ibom – (6), Oyo – (5), Bauchi – (1), Kano – (1) and Ekiti – (1)
