BY EDMOND ODOK – Following the resignation of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Friday, June 27 the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as its Acting National Chairman.
A seasoned and established politician, Dalori was a former Chairman of APC in the troubled North East state of Borno and the current Deputy National Chairman, North.
Born and brought up in Dalori town, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, he is considered a thorough-bred grassroot politician whose career in politics began at a very young age.
Along the line, Dalori became three times Councilor; and three times Chairman of Konduga Local Government Area respectively.
Also, his political dexterity threw him up as one time Special Advisor to the Borno State Government and was also a Member of the Borno State House of Assembly, representing the good people of Konduga Local Government Area.
With his excellent human relations, Dalori was appointed and later elected the Borno State Chairman of APC.
The new Acting APC Chairman is not only noted for his sincerity, honesty and patriotism, but is a man loved by his people and admired by contemporaries.
Meanwhile, insider sources hinted that Ganduje had to step down amid mounting pressure from party stakeholders, particularly from the North Central region, who have demanding consistently that the chairmanship should return to their zone.
According to the insider’s reports, Ganduje’s resignation may also have been a product of his alleged mishandling of the recent Party’s primaries in FCT Area Council.
Ganduje mounted the saddle in August 2023 after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, but has regrettably struggled to unify the party and his exit is seen as a strategic move by the APC to regain internal stability before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) blow the whistle to formally flag-off political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections
In the interim, competent sources hinted that the ruling party is ready to let Dalori serve as Acting Chairman until a substantive leader is elected at the Party’s national convention slated for December 2025.
