Gombe State Inaugurates Committee On Implementation Of TSA

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI IN GOMBE – As a means of entrenching transparency, accountability and probity in the conduct of government fiscal operations, the Gombe State Government has inaugurated a 9-member Committee headed by the State Deputy for the implementation and enforcement of Treasury Single Account (TSA) in the state.

Addressing members of the committee at its inauguration on Friday, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya congratulated them on their well-deserved appointment.

This is just as the Deputy Governor charged the members to honestly and objectively carry out the assignment given to them with the fear of God and for the betterment of the good people of Gombe State.

A statement issued at the end of the technical committee of the body, its Secretary, who is also the Administrator of Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Abubakar Inuwa Tata, noted that the TSA occupies a centre stage in the collective effort towards entrenching transparency, accountability, and probity in the conduct of fiscal activity especially at this trying moment.

The committee also reiterated the importance of the TSA in the national economic life as it gives a consolidated view of Government’s cash resources.

It also noted that the TSA represents e-bank account, or two sets of linked accounts, through which the government monitors all of its receipts and payments, as a requirement for sound management of government cash resources.

The Committee’s membership include the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Civil Service, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning and Representative of the Commissioner for Justice.

Other members of the TSA’s implementation Committee include the State Accountant-General, Auditor-General and Director, Treasury while the Administrator of Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Abubakar Inuwa Tata is the Secretary.
