BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has offered automatic employment for the top prize winner of new television reality show, BIG BRAIN NAIJA (BB9ja), scheduled to take place at the Tinapa Resort in Calabar, the State capital.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, BB9ja, Senator Osita Izunazor, who announced the cheering news during at the new TV reality show unveiling in Calabar, said apart from the governor’s laudable gesture, a proposal for automatic employment for the winner is also before the Federal Government for approval.

Senator Izunazor said the vision and concept behind the reality show evolves around providing youths an opportunity and enabling environment to task their brain, talent and to demonstrate their intellectual prowess in entrepreneurial skills.

In a clear demonstration of excitement about the programme’s roll out, the lawmaker said; “As I speak to you Governor Otu of Cross River has demonstrated in practical terms and convincing spirit that really he is running a people’s first oriented administration by graciously approving automatic employment to the expected forerunner of BB 9ja show”.

Offering further insight on the take-home packages at stake, Izunazor announced that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Motors, Dr, Innocent Chukwuma has also donated a customized G-Wagon Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) as the star prize for the competition.

Additionally, he disclosed that contacts are being made with notable entrepreneurs and government agencies for partnership towards achieving the competition’s goal of discovering and developing the hidden talents in the nation’s teeming youths.

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt, Hon Elvert Ayabem, who represented Governor Otu at the occasion, lauded organisers of the show for chosing Tinapa Resort as venue to host the event.

He expressed happiness at their foresight in choosing Tinapa, noting that the move would further attract global attention to the state and promote it as a tourism destination.

The Speaker, while pledging the government’s support and commitment towards the successful hosting of the event, appealed to well-meaning individuals and Organisations to always embrace projects aimed at repositioning Nigeria and making it competitive in technological development and enterprise on the global stage.

The Reality Show initiator, Dr Charles Awuzie, explained that the motivating factor behind the show concept stems from being dissatisfaction with the programme contents of many existing TV reality shows in the country.

According to Awuzie, events and happenings of today are completely at variance with the culture and tradition of the Nigerian people, stressing that there is an urgent need for re-orientation among Nigerians, especially the youth population in order to secure the country’s future for posterity.

Dr Awuzie, who is a South African-based Nigerian entrepreneur, said contestants in the Show would be drawn from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to promote a sense of unity and balancing of our diverse background.
