Governor Ishaku Expresses Satisfaction With Conduct of LG Polls In Taraba
BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of Local Government Councils election in the state, describing it as peaceful.
Ishaku said this shortly after casting his vote at his Sarkin Jukun unit in Takum on Tuesday that reports so far received from across the state indicated that the conduct of the election was peaceful.
In his words; “My deputy, Haruna Manu has just called me and informed me that the election in Taraba central zone is peaceful and from all indications in Taraba Northern zone, the election is equally peaceful”.
The Governor further said that the election in Southern Taraba was equally peaceful, saying that it is a credit to the state Independent Electoral Commission for organising a free and fair election.
Ishaku said that there was no imposition of candidates for the election, adding however that most candidates emerged by consensus.
He also said the All Progressive Congress (APC) which opted out of the election was signatory to the June 30, 2020 date for the election and wondered why it opted out.
