Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, who is based in Finland, has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to release his leader, Nnamdi Kanu, or be prepared to see and face the beast in him.

Ekpa, who stated this on his official X handle while reacting to the statement by Nnamdi Kanu in Court on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, during which he vowed to put an end to the insecurity in the South-East once he is released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), said it was high time his father (Nnamdi Kanu) was released.

In the words of Ekpa; “Release my father or you see the beast in me”.

Nnamdi Kanu, while speaking to journalists inside the Court after he was denied bail, said that he strongly suspected that some people in the government are complicit in the crisis, saying that they are making money from the situation.

Kanu said; “I suspect that some people in government are complicit. They are making money with this insecurity. They know if Nnamdi Kanu is outside, in two minutes, this nonsense will stop.”

The IPOB leader said that anybody who is committing a crime in the name of IPOB is a criminal and should be dealt with.

Kanu said; “I have sacrificed my parents for this struggle. Why would I want to sacrifice any other person? Anybody committing crimes in the South-East is not part of this family.

Anybody involved in any form of violence in the South-East in the name of IPOB, let me come out of this nonsense, this mess, only two minutes, I guarantee you, and there will be peace in the South-East.”

The IPOB leader, who has been in the custody of the DSS since his extradition in June 2021, and facing charges bordering on treasonable felony, told the court that he is being treated poorly by the DSS, adding that there is a conspiracy for him to die in the custody.

The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako dismissed the fresh application Kanu filed for his release on bail pending the determination of the treasonable felony charge the Federal Government preferred against him.

The Court accordingly ordered an accelerated hearing of the Federal Government’s seven-count charge against Nnamdi Kanu.
