It’s Endorsement Galore For Gov Otu’s 2nd Term
BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – With political activities already taking shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, Cross River State may be heading for a unidirectional voting pattern following the plethora of second-term endorsements coming the way of Governor Bassey Edet Otu.
So far, the growing list of those throwing their weight behind the second term bid of Governor Otu and his deputy, Hon Peter Odey include stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River; Lawmakers from the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State in the 10th Assembly; and College of Commissioners 2023 set in Cross River.
Others are the Cross River South Consultative Forum (CRSCF); the Cross River State Special Advisers Forum; and the people of Yache Nation in Yala Local Government Area
The latest to join this swelling ranks of endorsements is the Forum of Special Assistants (FSAs), currently serving as the governor’s aides across the 18 Local Government Councils of the State.
Chairman of the Forum, Mr Andrea Ekeng, who spoke at the endorsement ceremony, said the unanimous decision to back Governor Otu’s second term project was based on their conviction that he has performed beyond expectations in good governance and service delivery to the people.
Mr Ekeng listed development projects embarked upon by the governor to include road construction, promotion and advancement of education through the payment of West African Examination (WAEC) fees for 27 students, reconstruction of the State Library Complex and the Cross River State Newspapers Corporation (CRSNC), publishers of the Nigerian Chronicle Newspapers, both vandalized during the #endSARs protest among others.
He maintained that the Governor’s achievements in just two years are veritable development and people-oriented projects that are visible. Such a vision-driven chief executive must continue impacting the lives and well-being of the people with the support and encouragement of the people.
According to him, revitalisation of the public sector, including a giant leap in the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base, represents a restoration of hope and conviction that indeed public trust can be earned in governance, provided the key indicators of development are seen and felt by those who need governance most.
The Forum said from all indications, Governor Otu has reinvented the state and his efforts deserves their support and cooperation by all well-meaning Cross Riverians and residents of the State.
