Jaiz Captures 2024 Global Most Promising Islamic Bank Award
Nigeria’s pioneer Non-Interest Bank, Jaiz Bank Plc, has emerged as the global Most Promising Islamic Bank in 2024.
According to the bank’s management, this recognition aligns with its goal of ranking among “Africa’s leading non-interest financial institutions within the next five years.”
The Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA), which announced the feat recently, said Jaiz Bank emerged as the overall winner in this category over two other nominees of equal pedigrees, during the Global Islamic Finance Summit (GIFS) and awards ceremony in the picturesque Republic of Maldives.
GIFA’s Chairman, Professor Humayon Dar said; “The GIFA Awards Committee evaluated several institutions within the same category and, after a rigorous assessment based on multiple factors outlined in the GIFA methodology, selected Jaiz Bank Plc for this distinguished recognition.”
Dar also said the Bank was recognised for reinforcing its leadership position as a financial institution that stands out in exceptional growth potential, innovation, and financial performance.
In receiving the Award, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jaiz Bank Plc, Haruna Musa (Ph.D), who acknowledged the significance of the award, expressed gratitude to the organizers on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of the Bank.
He described the Award as “a vital milestone in realizing the Bank’s strategic vision”, stressing that “the recognition aligns with Jaiz Bank’s goal of becoming one of Africa’s leading non-interest financial institutions within the next five years.”
The Managing Director, who said the Award represents a call for additional work on effective service delivery, recalled that the Bank had also won GIFA’s Most Improved Islamic Bank Award in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
As a national bank, Jaiz is a quoted public company owned by over 26,000 shareholders spread over the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. Since commencing operations in 2012, it has been providing ethical services to individuals, corporate, and government entities with the “mission of Making Life Better Through Ethical Finance.”
Importantly, the Global Islamic Finance Awards is famous for having the most prestigious accolade in the Islamic finance industry, highlighting excellence and innovation across the sector globally.
