Kano Gov Nominates Ganduje’s Ex-Chief Of Staff, 18 Commissioners-Designate
BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has nominated 19 persons as commissioners-designate, subject to the State House of Assembly’s approval.
According to reports, making the list of nominees are Hon. Ali Haruna Makoda, former Chief of Staff to immediate past Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, and Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo, elder brother of Maritala Garo, who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.
Both Makoda and Garo, considered as outsiders within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) political family, are expected to be part of Governor Yusuf’s State Executive Council (SEC) after their screening by the State lawmakers.
Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, reeled out the names at plenary on Tuesday when he read the Governor’s letter communicating his list of nominees to the House.
The Governor’s letter read in part; “In accordance with power conferred on me by the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, I wish to formally forward the list below to appoint commissioners for approval by the Kano State House of Assembly.
“Full list of nominees sent to the Kano State House of Assembly for the position of commissioners by Gov. Abba K Yusuf.”

The House Majority Leader, Lawal Hussaini Chediyar Yangurasa, representing Dala State Constituency, moved the motion about the nominees and it was seconded by Hon. Tukun Muhammad, representing Fagge State Constituency.
Thereafter, all of the 19 Commissioners-designate were directed to appear before the House for screening on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
