Kano Police Arraign Teenager Over Suicide Attempt On Billboard

A 19-year-old teenager, Ibrahim Abubakar, whose dangerous billboard climbing caused a scare on Monday, June 23, 2025, has been arraigned in court by the Kano State Police Command on charges of attempting suicide

Abubakar, an indigene of Adamawa State spent several hours atop the billboard located around the popular Ado Bayero Bridge, near Gadar Lado axis along Zaria Road in Kano State.

The Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a short post on his Facebook page, that Abubakar was arraigned before a Magistrate Court on Friday.

According to Kiyawa; “He was arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 5 in Gyadi-Gyadi, Kano, on charges of attempting to take his own life.”

Forefront News Online recalled that despite pleas from security and emergency officials as well as well-meaning individuals, Abubakar had refused to come down from the billboard unless the famous TikToker, Abdul BK was brought before him.

The incident caused commotion, drawing a huge crowd of onlookers and led to significant traffic congestion on the busy road and surrounding areas for hours.

However, after being rescued by the authorities, Abubakar was rushed to the Police hospital in Bompai on Monday where he received medical care before his arraignment on Friday.
