The National leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has warned Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to stop bragging and engaging in political caricature, stressing that he brought him (Yusuf) and former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje politically irrespective of whatever they may now want to claim.
Kwankwaso pointedly said that Yusuf and many other people in Kano politics today are his godson’s, especially Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, whom he nurtured from the beginning as his son in politics.
Kwankwaso, who stated these while addressing elite group of the Kwankwasiyya Movement who paid him Sallah homage at his Kano Miller Road residence, noted that the political outburst of Governor Yusuf was insulting.
The former Minister of Defence who was dressed in his traditional white flowing gown with his identity red cap to match, made reference to recent statements credited to Yusuf, and expressed surprised why someone who answered every name he was called before now, has chosen to say something different.
Governor Yusuf had recently queried why a 69-year-old should refer to him a 63 years old adult as his boy.
But, Kwankwaso in a veiled response said; “I was made to understand that some few don’t want to be referred to as my boy again. If it is not out of disrespect, will Abba Kabir Yusuf say he is not my political son?
“If it is not out of disrespect, will Abdullahi Umar Ganduje say he is not my political son?” he asked.
Expectedly, the entire gathering in the hall went abuzz with laughter and thunderous clapping in affirmation of Kwankwaso’s claim to being the political mentor of both Yusuf and Ganduje in recent political history of Kano.
