Lagos-Zaria Bound Train Loaded With Water Pipes Derails In Kaduna

A Lagos-Zaria bound train loaded with water pipes has derailed in Kaduna even as no one sustain any injury.

Forefront News gathered that the accident occurred at about 5:50pm on Saturday around Unguwar Kanawa axis, opposite Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna

Confirming the incident, the Spoksman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige said that there was however no casualty just as no property was damaged.

Jalige explained that the train developed some faults which made it to derail adding that police operatives have been deployed to secure the area and protect the pipes.

Also speaking on the incident, the Kaduna State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Hafiz Mohammed, said that the accident is a minor one, saying that it was only the locomotive (head) and one coach that derailed while five coaches capsized.

According to Mohammed; “Some pipes were scattered due to the accident. However, patrol teams of Operation Yaki have been deployed for security coverage of the area”.

Mohammed also said that no life was lost in the accident just as no one sustained injury.

He said that the Nigerian Railway Headquarters has been contacted to send their technical team to the scene for necessary action.
