Let’s Support Benue Flood Victims – Aisha Buhari
BY ALIJO SYLVESTER, ABUJA – Wife of the President and founder of Future Assured Programme, Mrs. Aisha Buhari on Monday called on Nigerians to show support to the victims of the recent flooding in parts of Benue state.
Mrs. Buhari, who made the appeal through the wife of the Governor of Nasarawa State, Hajiya Mairo Al-Makura during the distribution of relief materials to the flood victims in Makurdi, said such assistance would complement government effort at providing succour to them.
Mrs Al-Makura was the head of a delegation made up of the wife of the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Zainab Bagudu and Senior Special Assistant to the President, Dr. Hajo Sani.
The team visited the Makurdi Ultra-modern market, where over 5000 displaced persons mostly women and children are putting up as a result of loss of their homes.
Mrs. Al-Makura while presenting relief materials made up of rice, garri, tomato puree, food seasoning, and nutritional packs for children and other essential commodities, conveyed the sympathies of the Wife of the President to the government and people of Benue state over the disaster, especially the victims.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Benue state government, the Deputy Governor of the state, Engr. Benson Abounu, described the humanitarian gesture of Mrs. Buhari as bringing hope to the hopeless and assured her of fair distribution and effective utilization of the items.
