BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – Diaspora people of Southern Kaduna in the USA, have lamented that the efforts of the people of area were not being complemented by government in apprehending the political marauders involved in the massacre of their kinsmen with a view to end the incessant killings and unprovoked violence.

They therefore called on their kinsmen to organize vigilante groups to support the security personnel secure lives and property against incessant attackers in the area.

The Diaspora Southern Kaduna noted that so far, communities that have been gutted by violence seems to be completely on their own, defenceless, and forlorn, with only the Almighty God to plead their case.

In a statement, Alice Osunde and Stanley Ayashim, President and Secretary respectively of the group said that the people of Southern Kaduna in Diaspora cannot help but feel that the time has come for the people of the geo-political zone to organize vigilante groups similar to those found in other parts of the country to support the police and other military outfits to secure lives and property.

The statement further stressed the need for active cooperation of retired military personnel with the wherewithal to impart investigative and defence skills to those volunteering to constitute the vigilante force to curb incessant attacks in the area.

They also suggested that technologies such as phone tracking, geo-orbits satellites, drones, and old-fashion spying could be deployed to apprehend the bandits and miscreants, lamenting that no step has been taken to sanitize the surroundings with such devices.

The statement noted that the incessant killings in the area was the desire by marauders to extinct the people from their ancestral land in spite of the young men and women sacrificing their time, money and energies to preserve peace in the affected areas of the state plagued by violence.

The Diaspora people of Southern Kaduna also called on traditional rulers of the various ethnicities in Southern Kaduna to speak with one voice by offering the state and federal governments advice on how best to avoid violence in the area, while rallying for material and emotional support to areas devastated by the attacks.

They equally enjoined the political class, military, and religious leaders in the state to take the security of lives seriously in order to prevent Southern Kaduna in particular and the whole state from becoming a killing field.

The group specifically condemned the mayhem of Saturday, April 15, 2023, that led to the loss of about 33 lives and injuring other innocent citizens in Runji Village in Atyap chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The statement noted that the attack was unprovoked and took place barely four months after the mass murder of 38 harmless villagers in Malagum, Kamuru–Ikulu and Abun (Broni Prono) also in Southern Kaduna on December 18, 2022.

According to the Diaspora Southern Kaduna people; “A month ago, 17 lives were lost with an untold number of innocent persons that were injured in Ungwan Wakili, Langson, Atakjeh and other villages in Zangon Kataf local government area.

“The attacks are calculated to inflict maximum damage, as those who master minded the dastardly act aimed at the genocidal extermination of the people of Southern Kaduna seem invisible and beyond reach for justice.

“There was no empathy with the dispossessed by the political leadership of the State, as no prominent politician either in the legislature or the executive has made an attempt to visit the violence prone areas to condole those deprived of lives and limbs and lack the means to replace damaged shelters,” it stressed.
