…Enlists services of ‘cash and carry’ CSOs, bloggers, pr consultants

The embattled Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, (NNPC Ltd), Mr Bayo Ojulari, was on Monday morning sighted in his office at the NNPCL Towers, Abuja, on normal duties.

Forefront News gathered that Ojulari reported to work like he would normally do Monday, August 04, 2025 at about 9.30 am.

Ojulari’s presence in office is in conflict with a story by an online medium on Friday that he was abducted by top officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and forced to resign from office.

However, some officers at the NNPC Ltd, explained that they were amused by the story which they considered as ‘fake news’ against the backdrop of their knowledge of Ojulari, who likes to work from home most of weekends.

According to a top officer of the NNPC Ltd; “When the former management was removed, it didn’t take more than a press statement or a post on X to achieve that.

“So, saying it took the combined effort of the DSS and EFCC to remove a government appointee in office is a new high in the growing fake news industry,” the senior staff said.

It was gathered authoritatively that the presidency is really pissed off with the leadership style of Ojulari which has not completely deviated from the mandate assigned to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with his Renewed Hope Initiative for revamping of the nation’s oil sector.

This was as it was gathered that since Friday last week, the embattled GCEO of the NNPC Ltd, Bayo Ojulari was busy running from pillar to post to lobby for his retention as he allegedly enlisted the services of some powerful persons in government, traditional rulers, Public Relations consultants, some quasi cash and carry civil society organisations (CSOs) and social media bloggers to drum support for his retention.

Specifically, some of the public relations consultants and online bloggers were assigned with the responsibility of changing the narratives of some his scandalous actions in office into positive stories and possibly make members of the public believe that some of his actions were carried out before his assumption of office.

However, in spite of the desperate attempt to change the story lines, the hire goons were unable to explain how the chartering of five private jets to a Rwanda retreat that eventually turned out to be a jamboree took place before his assumption of office.

Similarly, the CSOs, public relations consultants and bloggers failed woefully to explain not to talk of convincing that people, how $21 million belonging to the NNPC Ltd that was transferred to the account of the son in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar known to be a business associate of Ojulari, took place before he resumed office.

Clearly, the maladministration and mismanagement of resources under Ojulari at the NNPC Ltd and his refusal to work with his other colleagues on the management team is creating a disfunction in the nation’s oil company.

A source at the presidency told Forefront News that based on the magnitude of the allegations against Mr. Bayo Ojulari, his likely exit from the NNPC Ltd as the GCEO, is just, but a matter of time.
