No Life Lost In Twin Pipeline Explosions In Niger State – NSCDC
BY GLORIA USMAN, ABUJA – The twin explosion with a gap of about 12 hours at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), located along Dangodabe village popularly known as Pago under Paiko Local Government Council of Niger State were controlled by response agencies.
The cause of the explosions are still uncertain but experts from the NNPC Headquarters are already on the ground to find out the main cause of the incidence.
The Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the police, fire service and other agencies have cordoned off the entire village to avert human casualties and protection of properties.
The Niger state command of the NSCDC said that no life was lost after the search and rescue operations as at Sunday evening even as it said that the operation is ongoing.
It however said that three persons who sustained severe injury at the scene of the burst pipeline were evacuated to the hospital for comprehensive medical treatment.
The NSCDC said some suspects have been arrested for attempting to scope fuel from the burst pipelines while some vehicles were also destroyed due to the inferno.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Niger state command of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Yahaya, warned citizens, including villagers and commuters along the axis of the explosion to stay away from the scene for now pending the return of normalcy to the affected areas.
Yahaya also cautioned commuters along the Minna-Suleja road to obey all traffic instructions pending when normalcy returns.
