Okowa Seeks Prayers To Overcome Nigeria’s Security Challenges
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa says religious leaders must sincerely pray for peace in Nigeria, insisting that only God has the solutions to the various security challenges the country is currently facing.
Governor Okowa, who described the times as challenging, said Christian leaders should dedicate themselves to praying for God’s urgent intervention in the affairs of Nigeria for the overall good of the people.
Receiving Bishop Chris Kpakpovwe and members of the ‘Our Daily Manna’ group in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Senator Okowa said that Nigeria as a nation is facing serious security challenges, especially the herdsmen menace and it is imperative for religious leaders to seek the face of God for solutions.
According to him, “Nigeria as a nation is challenged and needs prayers, l believe that the only solution we need will come from God and we need to fervently pray to God, l believe that God will help us find solution to the herdsmen crisis which is worse than Boko Haram. We call on all Christian leaders to continue to pray for this country.”
The Governor further said; “there is a lot that our Christian leaders should pray about for this nation, so that we can have peace”, even as he praised Bishop Kpakpowe for organizing the yearly Daily Manna Programme in Delta State.
Governor Okowa noted that Delta state has enjoyed relative peace and prosperity due to the prayers and supplications of the clergy and fellow Deltans, adding; “I believe that this programme has blessed this state and that the prayers of various men of God have positively imparted on this state. We will always work together, developed together and live in peace as Deltans.”
Speaking earlier, Bishop Kpakpowe told Governor Okowa that they were in the state for this year’s Daily Manna Programme and appreciated him for always supporting them as well as the propagation of the gospel in the State.
The cleric lauded Governor Okowa for his people-oriented developmental programmes, saying; “I am proud of you and the government of the state. Everywhere I go, people are talking about the good work you are doing in the state. This is commendable and I thank God for your administration.”
