…As he leads journalists to inspect projects executed in his first year

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has said that one year is enough time to assess any serious government desirous to serve the people.

He therefore assured people of the state of better days ahead as he commissioned journalists to go on a three-day inspection of various projects across the state executed by his administration in preparation to marking his first one year in office on May 29.

The Governor, who was represented at the start of the media tour on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Garba Dahiru, gave the assurance while addressing the selected journalists at the site of one of the completed road projects in the state capital.

The commissioner noted that one year was enough to assess the performance of any serious government, adding that the PDP-led government of Senator Bala Mohammed will soon be one year old and felt the strong need to invite the media to inspect for themselves and compare and contrast what the governor has done for his people.

Governor Mohammed said that his administration has practically demonstrated that it is a true servant of the people by carrying out numerous developmental projects within such a short period of time.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Housing, Engr. Stephen Abubakar, who conducted journalists round the projects, said the 1.75 km Yakubun Bauchi-Raji quarters access road, the 4.2km Gombe – Maiduguri bye-pass and the 1.1km Muda Lawa link road all 100% completion were contracted at a cost of N2.5 billion.

Abubakar said the roads have opened up communities that hitherto lacked road infrastructure and were locked out from other neighboring areas.

He described the projects as standard ones, adding that they have now boosted the day-to-day businesses of people of the areas.

Abubakar said; “These three roads have been packaged in one contract. This one that we are standing on and another one that will be going over there has been completed like this one that has been completed 100 percent”.

The delegation also inspected the 1.1km Muda Lawal market road which rehabilitation work has reached an appreciable stage as well as the 6.2 km Jos–Dass road bye pass contracted at a cost of N2.2billion with work reaching 85% completion.

The Permanent Secretary said that the contract for the construction and rehabilitation were awarded to Triacta Nigeria limited.
