As part of concerted efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks responsible for insecurity in parts of the country, troops of 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested a notorious kidnap suspect.

The troops which carried out “Operation Zafin Wuta” and acting on credible intelligence, successfully apprehended the suspect, one Umar Musa Geyi, on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Jandei-Kulamu in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

These were disclosed in a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammed, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the 6 Brigade, saying that Geyi, who has long been on the wanted list of security agencies, is believed to be a key member of a kidnapping syndicate that has terrorised multiple communities in the area.

The statement said that preliminary findings have so far indicated that the suspect is linked to the abduction of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of the Jandei–Kulala general area, who was kidnapped on November 13, 2025 and still in captivity. Lt Muhammed explained that troops intercepted Geyi during a phone conversation in which he confirmed that the victim was still being held and demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for his release.

Geyi is presently in military custody undergoing further interrogation aimed at locating the victim and supporting efforts for his safe rescue.

While commending the troops for their swift and decisive action, the Commander, 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering resolve to crack down on criminal syndicates, rescue victims, and restore security across Taraba State.

Uwa appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.
